Medium: Adobe Photoshop
Time: 1-2 days {One day dedicated to in class demo and practice shooting}
Grade: 9-12
Objective: Develop a basic understanding of Aperture and "F-stops"
Explore the use of Macro Mode [Point and shoot cameras]
Explore the use of Aperture Priority Mode [Digital SLR models]
Materials: Digital camera
Tip: For this lesson I allow students to use Macro mode & Aperture mode on their cameras. I found that the most important concept for the kids to understand is the importance of light & and the difference between shallow/deep depth of field.
* All photographs taken by the following students grade 9-12: [see below] [Rose S.] [Ashley B.] [Travis M.] [Erika.] [Yinka O.] [Eva G.] [Lesli Z.] [Kelsey C.] [Hannah V.] [James K.] [Melissa N.]

Tip: For the Fist Aperture shooting lesson I required the students to photograph around their house, during science class [if the teacher allows them] and around school grounds. Creating interesting images from everyday life allows them to feel successful without the class "my life is too boring...I have nothing to photograph"
